A devastating earthquake struck central Italy on Wednesday, killing at least 290 people. The magnitude-6.2 quake struck at 03:36 (01:36 GMT), 100km (65 miles) north-east of Rome, near Accumoli. In the small Italian town of Amatrice hit hard by a magnitude-6.2 earthquake that struck in the middle of the night, locals and rescuers uninterruptedly dug through the rubble of downed homes and apartments looking for survivors. Rescue efforts also turn to body retrieval as aftershocks continue in Amatrice.
